Men’s Soccer Announces 2010 Schedule

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings head men’s soccer coach, Dan McNally, announced the 2010 schedule Friday.  The 18-game slate features nine home games and nine games away from Billings, including one neutral site contest.  In addition, the Yellowjackets play their annual alumni game and an exhibition matchup with cross-town rival Rocky Mountain College.

“We have a very challenging schedule in 2010,” McNally said.  “Every game will be difficult, but I’m confident in the team we have.  We have had three-straight winning seasons and we will work hard to make it four in a row.  It’s going to be an exciting season.”

Two exhibition games get the season underway as the Yellowjackets host Rocky, Sat., Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. at the College of Technology Field.  MSUB downed the Bears three times last season, two during the regular season and one exhibition contest.  The annual alumni game is scheduled for Sat., Aug. 28 at 4 p.m., also at the COT.

Things heat up in September as MSUB begins the regular season on the road for the ninth time in 10 years.  The Yellowjackets open at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. and then play a neutral site contest versus Dixie State, Sept. 6 at Grand Canyon.

The Jackets return home to open the 2010 home slate versus Colorado Christian, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. at the COT, followed by another Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe, Adams State, Sept. 12.  The Yellowjackets then head to RMAC foe Colorado State Pueblo for a midweek game, Sept. 15, and return home to face University of Mary Sept. 18.

The ever-tough Great Northwest Athletic Conference slate begins Sept. 23 as MSUB travels to NCAA and GNAC newcomer Simon Fraser.  SFU is the first Canadian school to join the NCAA as it was an NAIA school previously and has been quite successful over the years.  In 2009, SFU lost in the semifinals of the NAIA National Tournament to the eventual national champion, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

A Sept. 25 game at Western Washington closes out the first conference weekend series.

The home conference season begins Sept. 30 with a matchup versus Seattle Pacific and Saint Martin’s comes to town Oct. 2 for the 15th Annual Futbol Frenzy doubleheader and Alumni Day.

A week later, the Yellowjackets travel to Northwest Nazarene begin a stretch of four straight road games Oct. 9.  A midweek trip to the University of Mary (Oct. 13), and trips to Saint Martin’s (Oct. 21) and Seattle Pacific (Oct. 23) complete the road portion of the season.

The regular season closes with four-straight home games beginning with an Oct. 28 match against Western Washington, followed by the return trip for Simon Fraser Oct. 30.

November begins with a midweek contest versus Rocky (Nov. 3) and the regular season closes with Senior Day and a visit from Northwest Nazarene Nov. 6.

The Jackets return 15 players from last season’s 11-5-2 squad.  It was MSUB’s third consecutive 10-plus win season.  McNally has combined a number of local prospects along with some international talent for 2010.
