Men’s Basketball Preseason Productive
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings head men’s basketball coach, George Pfeifer, is pleased with the progress of this year’s team has made in the preseason. He sat down to discuss how the preseason has been going.
“We have made strides and certainly have gotten stronger in the weight room as we are up over 10 pounds as a team on the bench and over 50-pound increase with our squat. Overall we have quality returning players and some new faces with fairly decent accolades. Our work ethic has been at a fairly high level.”
Pfeifer, in his second year at MSUB, welcomes 11 new players to go along with six returners.
“We may have a lot of new faces, but we do have a lot of players with lots of college basketball experience,” Pfeifer added. The key will be how quickly we can get them to understand and function together in our system. We have some pieces and a part – what we do is not calculus or nuclear science, it is basketball. On the other hand we are not track or wrestling as we have to participate with a team first mentality if we are going to be successful. In order for us to come close to our early season potential will have a great deal to do with our team aptitude and the level of our learning curve. Not just the scheme or X’s and O’s, but how quickly we adapt to performing as a cohesive unit.”
The Yellowjackets practice during the week from 2 p.m. to after 4 p.m. Times and dates are subject to change. The practices are open to the public, but please contact Pfeifer or assistant coach Justin Wetzel beforehand.
