MSUB Hosts Mike Harkins’ Second Annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Saturday

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings men’s and women’s basketball programs will host the Second Annual Mike Harkins’ 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Saturday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. in Alterowitz Gymnasium. 

“We are excited to be hosting the Second Annual Mike Harkins 3-on-3 Tournament, in honor of the Godfather of basketball at our University,” MSUB head men’s basketball coach George Pfeifer said.  “Last year was a great start, and we believe this year will be even better.  It is a competitive event and fun event all rolled into one.  It is a great way for families to interact.”

The tournament is open to both men and women from fifth grade through an open division.  The format features divisions for both men and women from grades 5-8, 9-12 and an open division on both sides.  In addition, the men’s side features a 6-foot and under division.  Check-in and registration begin at 7:45 a.m. and will run until 8:45 a.m., with games beginning promptly at 9 a.m. Day of event registration is accepted and the cost is $70 per team after April 22nd.  

Awards will be given for the first place team in each division and the games will be played to 30 points with the 3-point line in effect.  The tournament is double-elimination and each team is guaranteed a minimum of two games.  Each participant will receive a Coach Mike Harkins t-shirt.
