Men’s Golf 14th at Western Washington Invitational After Two Rounds

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team sits in 14th-place after the first two rounds of the Western Washington Invitational. The Yellowjackets carded rounds of 320 and 307 for a 627 score at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club. University of British Columbia leads the 14-team field with a 570 score on the par 72, 6561-yard course.
Chico State is second, four strokes back, followed by Grand Canyon (578), Saint Martin’s (579) and Dixie State with a 580 to round out the top five. Host Western Washington is seventh (582) and fellow Great Northwest Athletic Conference member, Northwest Nazarene, is 12th with a 620 score.
There is a three-way tie for medalist honors after two rounds as UBC’s Conrado Paderes, Chico State’s Kyle Souza and Grand Canyon’s Daniel Harrington all are six-under with a 138. Dixie State’s Cameron Crawford is fourth at five-under with a 139.
MSUB is led by Tyler Nicholas’ two-over 146. He carded rounds of 74 and 72 to open the tournament Monday and sits tied for 18th. Jacob Harr shot rounds of 76 and 79 for a 155 score and is tied for 55th. Travis Gates is 67th with a 162 (85 – 77), while KC Kindle is 72nd (85 – 80, 165). Jeff Allen struggled in the first round with an 87, but followed up with a 79 for a 166 score and currently is 73rd.
The third and final round takes place Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
