Yellowjackets Finish 17th at Hanny Stanislaus Invitational

Final Results

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team finished the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in 17th place after it carded a team score of 320 Tuesday on the par 72, 6,641-yard Turlock Country Club course.  Host Cal State Stanislaus and Cal State San Bernardino tied for first with an 871 score, leading the 17-team field.

Individually, CSUSB’s Gene Webster, Jr., won medalist honors in impressive fashion as he set two tournament records with a single round low of 63 Tuesday and a tournament total of 18-under 198 (68 – 67 – 63).  The previous tournament record was 208 set by Jarin Todd of Sonoma State in 2008.  Cal State Dominguez teammates Ryan Indovina and Cavin McCall finished second and third, respectively, as they shot 210 and 211.  CSU-Stanislaus’ Brandon Taylor was fourth with a 214 and CSUSB’s Joe Alldis was fifth with a 215.

Grand Canyon finished third in the team standings with an 876, followed by Chico State (877) and Cal State Monterey Bay rounded out the top five with an 881.  Great Northwest Athletic Conference members, Western Washington and Saint Martin’s, finished 10th and 13th, respectively.  The Vikings shot a 901, while SMU fired a team score of 920. 

MSUB dropped 15 strokes from the first round to the second on Monday (327 – 312) and a 320 on Tuesday for a 959, 54-hole score.  Jeff Allen and Travis Gates led the way for the Jackets as they tied for 67th and each fired a 237.  Jacob Harr finished tied for 77th as he carded the team low-round of 74 Monday and a 241 overall score.  Kyle Armstrong finished 86th with a 252 score, while K.C. Kindle carded a 254 and finished 87th.

The Yellowjackets return home Wednesday to prepare the GNAC Championship, beginning Apr. 19 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort and Golf Course in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
