Yellowjackets Play 36 in Hanny Stanislaus Invitational

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team dropped 15 strokes from its first round to its second on the first day of the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Country Club. The Yellowjackets have a 36-hole score of 639 (327 – 312) heading into tomorrow’s final round on the par 72, 6,641-yard course.
Host Cal State Stanislaus leads the 17-team field with a 582 score after carding rounds of 295 and 287 on Monday. Grand Canyon is second (585), followed by Cal State Monterey Bay (586). Sonoma State, Chico State and Cal State San Bernardino all are tied for fourth with a 591 score. Fellow Great Northwest Athletic Conference members, Saint Martin’s (606) and Western Washington (608) are 11th and 12th, respectively.
Individually, Cal State San Bernardino’s Gene Webster, Jr., leads the 88-player field with a 9-under 135. He carded rounds of 68 and 67. Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Cavin McCall is second after shooting a pair of 69’s, while teammate Ryan Indovina is third with a pair of 70’s.
For the Yellowjackets, Jeff Allen leads the team with a 12-over 156 after rounds of 79 and 77 as he is tied for 59th. Travis Gates is second on the team and tied for 66th (158, 78 – 80). Jacob Harr fired the team-low round of 74 to go along with an 87 for a 161 score and is tied for 75th. K.C. Kindle shot rounds of 83 and 84 and is 84th, while Kyle Armstrong dropped 10 strokes from a 91 in the first round for a 172 score and is 87th after an 81 in round two.
The field completes the tournament with an 18-hole round tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. local time.
