Women’s Golf Finishes 16th at Lady Otter Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Montana State Billings women’s golf team finished 16th at the Lady Otter Invitational, Tuesday hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay. The Yellowjackets carded a 36-hole total of 692 and were led by Amy Nordeen who fired a 165 and tied for 52nd.
NAIA member, University of British Columbia, won the tournament firing a tournament-low 298 score Tuesday to overtake the lead from California Baptist, who finished tied for third in the 19-team field. UBC scored a 36-hole team total of 600, defeating host CSUMB by six strokes. Sonoma State and Cal Baptist tied for third with a 619 score, while Nebraska-Omaha finished fifth with a 624 score, on the par 73, 5810-yard, Black Horse Golf Course.
Individually, CSUMB’s Cicilia Chudivan earned medalist honors as she fired a 74 and a 72 for an even-par 146. UBC’s Vanessa Leon was second after carding rounds of 71 and 76 for a 147. Teammate Lindsay Manion and Victoria’s Anne Balser tied for third with a 149. First round clubhouse leader, Cal State San Marcos’ Stephanie Cole, finished 11th after carding an opening 69 followed by an 83 Tuesday.
Nordeen, dropped three strokes from Monday (84 – 81) for a 165. Kalli Stanhope fired rounds of 85 and 84 for a 169 score and tied for 65th. Erin Heaney, who was the team leader entering the second round, carded rounds of 83 and 93 for the tournament for a 176 score and tied for 77th. Libby Rutz (93 – 89) finished 83rd with a 182 score, while Liz Tikriti finished 86th with a 187 score (94 – 93) in the 95-player field.
The Yellowjackets return home to play in the second half of the MSUB/RMC Ryder Cup, Apr. 1-2 at Briarwood Golf Club. The Jackets then head to the Grand Canyon Invitational, Apr. 5-6, in Phoenix, AZ.
