Basketball Doubleheader Set for Wednesday
BILLINGS, Mont. - The Montana State Billings men's and women's basketball team host their first doubleheader of the season Wednesday, Nov. 18, beginning at 5:15 p.m. with the women battling the University of Mary, followed by the men's season opener versus Colorado Christian at 7:30 p.m.
The theme for Wednesday is Residence Halls Night. Any student sitting in the student section wearing blue or gold will receive a raffle ticket for eligibility to participate in the Dash For Cash during the men's and women's games.
The women enter with a 1-0 record on the year after a 91-57 record-setting victory on Sunday versus Colorado-Colorado Springs. In the game, Kalli Stanhope set the school record for made 3-pointers in a game with eight as she was just one shy of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference record of nine. As a team, the Yellowjackets knocked down 16 triples, one short of the school record of 17 set Dec. 16, 2005.
The men's team opens the 2009-2010 campaign Wednesday with Colorado Christian. The Yellowjackets welcome six returners with nine newcomers including two Division I transfers in seniors Lasha Parghalava and Mike McCrary. Parghalava played last year at the University of Hawaii, while McCrary had a stint with Cal State-Northridge.
Tickets for the game are $7 for the general public, $4 for students 7-12 grades, $4 for seniors ages 65 and up and MSUB faculty/staff is $4. MSUB students with a valid student ID are free, while students grades six and under also are free. Please call 406-657-2369 for more information.
