Schoonover and Ridgeway Named to GNAC Academic All-Conference Team

SPOKANE, Wash. – Montana State Billings senior Matt Schoonover and junior Jeff Ridgeway were two of 17 student-athletes named to the 2010 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Baseball All-Academic Team, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Saint Martin’s junior outfielder, Blaine Evans, led the way for the second year in a row with a near-perfect 3.99 GPA.  Western Oregon’s Jason Moseby had the second highest GPA with a 3.92 average.

Schoonover graduated last weekend with a 3.37 GPA in health and human performance, while Ridgeway will carry a 3.48 GPA into his final year as a Yellowjacket.  Schoonover is one of five repeat selections and is a two-time Academic all-league selection.

All letter winners who are in at least their second year of competition at their university and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 are eligible to be selected to the team.

The Yellowjackets conclude the 2010 regular season this weekend at Central Washington.  The four game series is scheduled to begin Friday at 1 p.m. pacific time with a doubleheader, followed by a twin bill Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
