Box Score

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Montana State Billings women’s soccer team out-shot Adams State 27-4, en route to a 2-1 victory at Augustana College Saturday afternoon.  With the victory, the Yellowjackets improve to 3-1 on the year, while Adams State falls to 1-4.

“We got the job done,” head coach Don Trentham said.  “We had a good performance in the first half and showed good character to pull out the victory on the road.”

Shots were a plenty in the first half for the Jackets as the out-shot the Grizzlies in the opening half, 18-0 and 27-4 for the game, including 11-4 in shots on goal.  MSUB got on the board in the 17th minute as Chelsea Libby took a nice pass from Kelly Ross off a deflection for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.

With 30 seconds left in the first half, Ali Gamberg scored her first career goal and first game winner for a 2-0 lead.  Adams State goalkeeper, Jasmine Burt, was quite busy in the first half with 18 shots, two goals against and six saves.

In the second half, the game became quite physical with five yellow cards issued.  Adams State’s Michelle Reed scored in the 58th minute on assists from Amber Drumm and Megan Azzolina, cutting the deficit to 2-1.  Adams State had 22 fouls in the game compared to the Jackets’ eight.

The Jackets continued to fire shots and put the pressure on.  Adams State was unable to get the equalizing goal, falling 2-1.

For the game, Mandy Ploskonka led the team with nine shots and five on goal.  Gamberg had a goal on six shots.  Great Northwest Athletic Conference co-Player of the Week honoree, Kari Foreman, had four shots, while Kelly Ross added five shots.

Yellowjacket goal keeper, Jordan Fenwick picked up her third win of the season, allowing one goal with three saves.

The Yellowjackets will be back in action tomorrow as they take on host Augustana College (1-1-1).  Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. central time.  MSUB will return home Sat., Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. against the University of Mary to begin a six-game home stand.
