Yellowjackets’ Carlson Named 1st-Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine
District 7 Academic-All Star
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings women’s soccer senior midfielder Melissa Carlson has been named to the first-team College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine College Division District 7 Academic All-Star.
Carlson, a native of Renton, Wash., is a health and human performance major with a 3.92 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Carlson currently is tied for third on the team with three goals and has two assists for eight points. She also has one game winner on the year, helping the Yellowjackets to a 9-8 record and a 4-5 record in conference play.
Carlson is one of just two Great Northwest Athletic Conference student-athletes to be named to the first team. Seattle Pacific’s Claire Grubbs earned first-team honors in District 8. Both will move on to the national ballot. The Academic All-America team is scheduled to be released Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The Yellowjackets host 18th-ranked and West Region top-seed Western Washington Friday in the home regular season finale at 1 p.m. at the College of Technology Field.
