Stanhope Named RMAC Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Montana State Billings women’s golf freshman, Kalli Stanhope, earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for her efforts earlier this week as the Yellowjackets finished a historic Rocky Mountain College Invitational at Peter Yegen Golf Club in Billings.
Stanhope helped lead the Yellowjackets to a record-breaking third place team finish out of 10 teams. She finished the tournament third individually with a 228 score (77 – 76 – 75), three strokes off the lead.
The Glendive, Mont., native helped lead the Jackets to a team record-breaking performance as well. For the tournament, MSUB set school records for round team score in each of the three rounds. The Yellowjackets started with a 323 which was a school record and followed with a 317 in the second round and then eclipsed that with an impressive 312 in the final round. In addition, a number of Yellowjackets went on for personal bests during the tournament.
The Yellowjackets have a one point lead in the RMAC Championship Standings over Fort Hays State. MSUB has a first place and a second place finish for 17 point through two events, while FHSU has a third place and a first place finish for 16 points.
The Jackets and Rocky Mountain College are playing their annual match play event Friday and Saturday at Peter Yegen this week.
