Carpenter Named Co-GNAC Player of the Week
BILLINGS, Mont. – Alira Carpenter has been named Co-GNAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 17. She shares the award with Jessica Summers of Western Washington. This is the first week of the award for the 2008-09 season. It is Carpenter’s second time being named GNAC Player of the Week and the sixth time in her career overall.
Carpenter scored 33 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, one steal and blocked a shot in a 91-81 win over Colorado State Pueblo on Nov. 15. Carpenter hit six three-pointers and was 9-of-9 from the free throw line. She scored 21 points in the first half.
Carpenter tied her career-high for points and set a career-high in rebounds. She has now scored 1432 points in her career, which is fifth best. Carpenter needs 189 points to break the school record of 1620 by Tera Silvius (1992-95).
