Carpenter is Second in NCAA Division II Scoring
BILLINGS, Mont. – Alira Carpenter’s shooting abilities are paying off. As of December 15, she is the second leading scorer in NCAA Division II Women's Basketball with 27.3 points per game. Carpenter only trails Britney Jordan of Texas A&M Commerce (30.3 ppg).
Carpenter has been amazingly consistent in her scoring. She has scored at least 26 points in five of seven games with four games at 29 points or more. Carpenter tied her career-high with 33 points against Colorado State Pueblo on Nov. 15.
She is currently the second leading scorer in school history with 1590 points. Carpenter needs 31 points to break the record of 1620 held by Tera Silvius (1992-95).
Carpenter is shooting 46.3% from the floor, 43.1% from behind the arc and 88.2% from the line. She is tied for 25th in the country with three 3-pointers made per game. Carpenter is the all-time leader in MSUB history for three-pointers made (235) and attempted (575).
Montana State Billings also ranks among the top 25 in the country in five other categories. As a team they are 12th in assists (19.7 pg), 21st in 3-point percentage (39.0), tied for 22nd in 3-pointers made per game (8.0) and 25th in scoring (81.3 pg). Shantelle Marquis is ranked seventh in assists with 6.6 per game.
