Volleyball Closes Out the 2008 Season at Home

THIS WEEK: Montana State Billings closes out the 2008 season at home, Thursday, Nov. 13, taking on Saint Martin’s.
SAINT MARTIN’S: The Saints (4-19, 1-13 GNAC) are currently in last place. Andrea Tarbet leads the team with 2.58 kills per game. Brianna Bautista is collecting 2.97 digs per game.
FAREWELL JESSICA: The contest against Saint Martin’s will be the final appearance in a Yellowjacket uniform by Jessica Lechner. She has more than made her mark on the MSUB volleyball program. This season Lechner became just the fifth Jacket to play in 400 career games. She has played in 413 games, which is third best. Lechner also ranks among the top 10 in solo blocks (10th - 44), block assists (6th - 197) and total blocks (7th - 241). She has been a three-time academic all-conference selection.
LAST WEEK: The Yellowjackets finished 1-1 on the week. Montana State Billings put a damper on senior night with a 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 25-19, 25-18) win over Alaska Fairbanks, Thursday, Nov. 6. It was the first win since Oct. 6. For MSUB Devon Crotteau had 19 kills, 10 digs and hit .359 while Jennifer Boe had 12 kills. Hillary Morrison quarterbacked the offense with 37 assists and added 10 digs. The Jackets came away with 10 team blocks led by Jessica Lechner with six and Ashley Welborn with four. Jill Trabing had a solid night with 16 digs.
Alaska Anchorage almost became upset victim number two for Montana State Billings. The Seawolves dug deep for a 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-9) win over the Yellowjackets, Saturday, Nov. 8. For Montana State Billings Crotteau had 16 kills and 14 digs while Boe had a strong night with 12 kills and 17 digs. Welborn had nine kills and 10 digs and Trabing collected 17 digs.
