Yellowjackets Get Ready for Three Matches in Six Days

THIS WEEK: Montana State Billings is preparing themselves for three home volleyball conference matches in a span of six days. The Yellowjackets will take on Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Oct. 2, Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Alaska Anchorage on Monday, Oct. 6.
ALASKA ANCHORAGE: The Seawolves (10-6, 2-1 GNAC) are led by Rhea Cardwell who is averaging 4.02 kills per game. Calli Scott quarterbacks the offense with 10.11 assists per game.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE: The Crusaders (7-5, 1-3 GNAC) are coming off a pair of five game losses that took 2 1/2 hours to play each. Cammy Dranginis is averaging 3.54 kills and 1.17 blocks a game while hitting .291. Lindsay Forseth is pounding home 2.86 spikes a game while Haley Hevern is collecting 5.11 digs per game. Northwest leads the series 4-3.
SEATTLE PACIFIC: The Falcons (3-10, 1-3 GNAC) are led by Nikki Finley with 3.32 kills and 2.68 digs per game. Anna Herold leads the defense with 5.04 digs per game. SPU leads the series 12-2, although the Jackets have won the last two meetings.
LAST WEEK: The Yellowjackets came away with a split beating Rocky Mountain College 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-14) and falling 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) to Western Oregon.
The match against Rocky resembled a heavyweight championship fight. Both squads were throwing knockout punches and went back and forth. The third game was much the same until it was 17-14. Jessica Eliasson hit one in the net and Jill Trabing came up and served seven straight points to finish the match.
Devon Crotteau had a monster night with 23 kills and sizzled the nets for a .572 hitting percentage. She benefitted from outstanding setting from Hillary Morrison who had a career high 41 assists. That gives Morrison 80 assists (13.33 per game) over the last two matches. Trabing had six digs, two aces and served up 12 points on the night. Alohanui Pekipaki had 10 digs with four of them spectacular pancakes to keep several rallies alive.
Against Western Oregon, Crotteau had 11 kills while Jennifer Boe smashed home nine shots. Rosey Falemaka had a solid night with two service aces and four blocks.
