Yellowjackets Take to the Road

THIS WEEK: Montana State Billings hits the road for a pair of GNAC matches. The Yellowjackets will play Central Washington on Thursday, Sept. 18 and Western Washington on Saturday, Sept. 20. Both matches are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
Central Washington: The Wildcats are 8-4 and open the GNAC season with MSUB. Rachel Schurman is averaging 3.17 kills per game with 38 blocks and is hitting .316. Erin Norris has served up 23 aces while Brandie Vea is pulling down 6.49 digs per game. CWU leads the series 3-1.
Western Washington: The Vikings are 8-0 and are currently ranked ninth in NCAA Division II. Leading the hitting attack are Megan Amundson (4.28 kills pg, .284 hitting percentage) and Angie Alvord (3.13 kills pg, .379 hitting percentage).Kari Rice quarterbacks the offense with 11.39 assists per game. Allison Gotz is collecting 6.68 digs per game. WWU leads the series 5-0.
LAST WEEK: The Yellowjackets finished 1-3 at the MSUB Invitational, Fri-Sat., Sept. 12-13. On the 12th, the Jackets knocked off Notre Dame de Namur 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 22-25, 25-18) and lost 3-2 (11-25, 12-25, 27-25, 25-12, 15-12) to the University of Mary. On the 13th, MSUB lost both matches, 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19) to Northern State and 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-17) to Hawaii-Hilo.
Jennifer Boe was named to the All-Invitational team. In 16 games, she had 30 kills (1.88 per game) and led the team in digs with 48 for three per game. Jessica Lechner led the invitational in hitting percentage with a sizzling .357.
