BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings has gone with a youth movement for the 2009 season. Alyson Cookes (Aurora, Colo.), Hannah Johnson (San Diego, Calif.), Morgan Moss (Fowler, Colo.) and Tarrah Sweet (Roswell, N.M.) have all signed a national letter of intent to play at MSUB in the fall of 2009.
Cookes, a 6-1 middle blocker, earned three letters at Eaglecrest High School. She helped the Raptors go undefeated and win the Class 5A State Championship in 2006. Cookes led her team to the state championship game as a junior and earned All-Centennial League honors as a senior.
“Alyson is a great recruit,” said head coach Dana Cordova. “She will be able to put a big block on opposing hitters. Alyson also brings a lot of power and quickness to the team.”
Johnson, a 6-2 middle blocker, earned two letters at La Costa Canyon High School. As a senior, she helped the Mavericks go 35-1 and win the CIF Division I State Championship. Johnson was a two-time all-state selection and led her team to two league championships.
“Hannah will be a force for us,” said coach Cordova. “She will be able to be used in many different areas in the front row. Hannah knows what it takes to be a winner.”
