Falcons Fly Past Montana State Billings

SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle Pacific pounded out a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-19) win over Montana State Billings, Saturday night. The Yellowjackets remain on the road taking on Alaska Fairbanks, Thursday, Nov. 6. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
In the opening game, Jessica Lechner connected on a set by Hillary Morrison to make it 12-8, Seattle Pacific. The Falcons went on a 9-4 run to effectively close out the game.
In game two, the Yellowjackets controlled much of the tempo. Ashley Welborn targeted the back corner and connected to make it 17-16. SPU came back with a 5-2 run to be on the verge of making it 2-0.
The Jackets dug deep and two kills from Devon Crotteau and a hitting error from the Falcons made it 22-21. Seattle Pacific scored two points but Lechner staved off the game winning point with a great effort. SPU put the next ball away to win the game.
Game three saw the Jackets controlling the tempo early. Back-to-back kills from Jennifer Boe put MSUB on top 11-10. The Falcons scored six straight points to basically put the game out of reach.
"We just had lapses out there that hurt us," said head coach Dana Cordova. "We played well in stretches. Unfortunately, Seattle Pacific took advantage of the times when we played sluggish."
For Montana State Billings (5-22, 2-11 GNAC), Crotteau had 13 kills, 11 digs and hit .367 while Lechner had nine kills and hit a very solid .438. Jill Trabing collected 12 digs. For Crotteau it was her 13th double-double of the season.
For Seattle Pacific (5-17, 3-10 GNAC), Nikki Finley had 15 kills and Kylie Johnson added 10. Anna Herold had 13 digs.
