Montana State Billings Falls in Tough Battle

BILLINGS, Mont. – It was all out volleyball war in Alterowitz Gym tonight as Alaska Fairbanks nudged past Montana State University Billings 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21). It was the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener for both squads. The Yellowjackets are back at home hosting the MSUB Invitational, Fri.-Sat, the 12th and 13th. “I thought we played a pretty good match,” said head coach Dana Cordova. “This was a match that we should had won. We continue to make the little mistakes that will cost you all the time. We are going to focus on correcting those mistakes in the tournament this weekend.”
For MSUB (1-8), Devon Crotteau had 15 kills, 11 digs and hit .345, Jennifer Boe had 11 kills, 13 digs and hit .333 while Jill Trabing had 10 digs.
For Alaska Fairbanks (4-2), Korlyn Bolster had 13 kills and hit .296, Megan Thigpen had 13 kills and Jessica Hill added 10 kills.
