Yellowjackets Head to Bozeman for Final Tune-Up Before GNAC Championships

BILLINGS, Mont. –  Montana State Billings has one meet left to get athletes qualified for the GNAC (Great Northwest Athletic Conference) Championships.  The Yellowjackets will head to Bozeman, Saturday, Apr. 25, to compete in the Montana State Invitational.  Among the teams expected to compete are NCAA Division I schools Montana and Montana State.

At this point, Montana State Billings has had three athletes automatically qualified for the GNAC Championships.  Jade Haynie has the eighth-best discus toss among the men at 144-6.  For the women, Alexi Halvorson leads the GNAC with a toss of 142-9 and Justine Simons is 10th in the 100M dash at 12.76.  Halvorson’s throw has provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships.

“This is a good meet for us to improve our performances,” said head coach Dave Coppock.  “Every week, I’ve seen improvements and I expect the same this weekend.  Our female sprinters will have a good shot at lowering their times.  I’m going to get a couple of kids to run in the 10,000 to get a time.”
