Halvorson Provisionally Qualifies for NCAA Championships
GLENDIVE, Mont. – Montana State Billings had a solid showing at the Marauder Classic, Friday afternoon. Alexi Halvorson won the discus with a throw of 142-9, which was good enough to hit the NCAA Provisonal mark. The Yellowjackets broke four school records and had 25 additions to the top 10 list. MSUB will travel to Missoula, Saturday, Apr. 18, to compete in the Montana Open.
For the men, there were 11 additions to the Top 10 list. Matt Rosenberry ran 2:03.13 to break the school record in the 800 for the second straight meet. Jade Haynie was runner-up in the discus with a toss of 144-6.25. That throw automatically qualifies him for the GNAC Championships.
For the women, three school records fell. Halvorson’s toss in the discus broke her own school record and is the best throw in the GNAC by 17 feet. Lisa Minnehan ran 18:56.32 to break her school record in the 5000.
In the 200M dash, Justine Simons ran 25.88 to automatically qualify for the GNAC Championship. She broke the school record of 26.74 set by two-time national qualifier Laura Sundheim in 1979. MSUB had 14 additions to the Top 10 list.
