Yellowjackets to Compete at GNAC Track & Field Championships
BILLINGS, Mont. – The moment of truth is here. Montana State Billings will head to Monmouth, Ore., Fri.-Sat., May 1-2 to compete at the GNAC Championships. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The men had one automatic and seven provisional qualifiers. Jade Haynie, the automatic qualifier, is seeded eighth in the discus with a toss of 144-6. Both the 400 and 1600M relay teams are seeded seventh.
The women had two automatic and 19 provisional qualifiers. The automatic qualifiers were Alexi Halvorson (Discus) and Justine Simons (200M dash). Halvorson has the longest throw in the GNAC and is 18th in the country.
“I’m excited about this weekend,” said head coach Dave Coppock. “The kids have worked very hard all season. I feel we could surprise some people this weekend. Alexi has a shot to win the discus and improve her national qualifying mark. Our sprinters are ready to have a breakout meet.”
