Yellowjackets Close Out Track Season

BOZEMAN, Mont. –  Montana State Billings had a solid showing at the Tom Gage Classic Friday evening.  The Yellowjackets had four top five finishes competing against NCAA Division I schools, Montana and Montana State.  MSUB has concluded the 2009 outdoor track season.

For the men, Travis Hutchinson ran 4:25.82 to place fifth in the 1500.  His time was fifth fastest in Montana State Billings history.  Jade Haynie finished among the top 10 in the hammer.

For the women, Lisa Minnehan ran 19:30.65 to win the 5000.  The 400M relay team of Rachel Hansen, Erika Halle, Britney Derhak and Cassie Holm ran 51.09 to finish second.  Cassie Holm was the runner-up in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 16.54.

“We went out and competed today,” said head coach Dave Coppock.  “We were the only non-NCAA Division I team and we did well.  Lisa had a strong race in winning the 5000.  Kacie Vanderloos and Jade did well in the throws.  Our 400 relay squad was just off the school record.  That’s not bad for a foursome that has not run together before.”
