Mountain States Invitational

Complete Results

POCATELLO, Idaho –  Montana State Billings is looking for a good deal on whiteout.  The Yellowjackets broke 10 school records and had 29 additions to the Top 10 list at the Mountain State Invitational this weekend.  MSUB is off until Saturday, Feb. 21 when they head to Nampa, Idaho to compete in the GNAC Championships.

For the men, Nick Kessler broke two school records for the second straight meet.  He set new school standards in the 60 (7.31) and 200 (23:07)M dashes,  Jade Haynie broke his own school record in the 35-LB weight with a toss of 38-8.75

In the 800, Tyson Vanderby fell less than a second away from the school record with a time of 2:05.64.  MSUB ran the second fastest distance medley relay time in the GNAC this year at 11:43.21.

For the women, seven school records went by the wayside.  The highlight was Sarah Jackson placing second in the 800 with a school record time of 2:19.54.  She passed four runners in the final 100 meters to go from fifth to second.

Justine Simons was a double record breaker in the 200 (26.62) and 400 (1:02.29)M dashes.  Both of those performances rank among the top 10 in the GNAC.

Individual school records came from Erika Halle (Long Jump), Cassie Holm (60M hurdles) and Lisa Minnehan (5000).  The Distance Medley Relay squad of Mykel Ler, Jackson, Simons and Katie Thiel set the school record with a time of 13:54.48.

“Sarah was the biggest highlight of the meet for us,” said head coach Dave Coppock.  “There were some really good runners in the race.  She paced herself well and had a great finish.  I thought Justine, Lisa, Nick and Nathan had solid performances as well.  It was a good tune-up for the GNAC Championships in two weeks.”
