The Clock Strikes Midnight for Montana State Billings
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The cinderella run in women’s tennis has ended for Montana State Billings (16-11). No. 14 Hawaii Pacific beat the Yellowjackets 5-0 in the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships, Wednesday afternoon. MSUB has concluded the 2008-09 season.
Hawaii Pacific took an early lead by winning all three double matches. The Sea Warriors sealed the deal with wins at No. 5 and 6 Singles. For MSUB, Johnna Beatty put up a tough battle at No. 4 Singles. Playing Ingrid Cseh, Beatty lost 6-3 and was tied 1-1 when the match was ended.
“I have nothing but admiration and respect for my players,” said head coach Jerry Peach. “They went out against one of the best teams in the country and competed. The scores may not show it, but we played good tennis today. Only 16 teams made it this far and we were one of them. It’s been a great season.”
