Yellowjackets Pick Up Five Victories
DENVER, Colo. – Montana State Billings had a successful weekend, Apr. 10-11, winning five out of eight matches. The men (1-3 RMAC, 4-13) beat Colorado Christian 9-0 and fell 7-2 to Metro State, 8-1 to CSU-Pueblo and 8-1 to Colorado College. The women (3-1 RMAC, 9-9) went undefeated beating Metro State 6-3, Colorado Christian 9-0, CSU-Pueblo 8-1 and Colorado College 5-3. MSUB closes out the regular season at home, Fri.-Sat., Apr. 17-18, against Nebraska-Kearney and Metro State.
For the men, the Yellowjackets lost just 18 games in seven of the nine matches against Colorado Christian. Geoffrey Fehr led the team in singles wins with victories over Metro State and Colorado Christian.
On the 11th, both of the points came at No. 5 Singles. Brian LeSueur beat Finn Gunther of CSU-Pueblo 7-6, 6-4. Against Colorado College, James Catlin beat Tom Modern, 6-3, 6-4.
For the women, they had two tight matches. Against Metro State, three of the single matches went three sets. At No. 3, Ana Juarez lost the first set 6-2 and then won the next two 6-1 and 6-3 to win the match. Ling Chan and Johnna Beatty both pulled off three sets wins at No. 1 and 5 Singles, respectively.
Against Colorado College, MSUB lost the first set in two singles matches before rallying to win both in three. At No. 1 Singles, Ling Chan lost the first set 7-6 and then won 6-3, 7-5. At No. 2 Singles, Ana Juarez rallied to win 2-6, 6-4, 7-6.
Sam Selstad was the only player to go undefeated on the weekend. She was 3-0 in singles and was 4-0 in doubles with Anne-Sophie Tredet. Rebekah Carlson had a perfect record in singles at 4-0.
