Smith to Join MSUB Softball Team

BILLINGS, Mont. -  Madison Smith of Newcastle, Calif., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Montana State Billings starting in the fall of 2009.  She is a catcher and utility player who is entering her senior year at Granite Bay High School.  Smith is the first player to sign an NLI for the Yellowjackets.

“I feel pretty fortunate that Madison has chosen Montana State Billings,” said head coach Tony Stone.  “She is not only a great student-athlete but an even better person.  Madison is a very versatile athlete who can play several positions.  I think she is a great fit for the program and we are excited to see what she can do for the Yellowjackets.”

Smith has been selected to the All-Sierra Foothills League first team all three seasons.  She was named the team MVP as a freshman and junior and was selected team captain in each of the last two seasons.  Smith is a member of student government and the honor roll.
