Charles Ranked in the Top 10 Nationally

BILLINGS, Mont. – Junior forward, Sam Charles, currently is ranked in the top 10 nationally in a number of men’s soccer statistical categories.

Charles ranks sixth nationally in points (2.78) and he is fifth in goals scored (1.22) in this week’s NCAA Division II national statistical report.

In addition, Charles leads the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with 25 points, including 11 goals and three assists.  He is the only GNAC player ranked in the Top 10 in any category.  Charles leads the team with 11 goals this season.  He has scored in eight of the nine games thus far.  Charles had his third career hat trick with three goals against Mary (9/8), tying him for the all-time lead in hat tricks in conference history. 

Charles has been named conference Player of the Week twice this season.

The Yellowjackets host two crucial GNAC games this week.  MSUB battles Saint Martin’s Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and hosts arch rival Seattle Pacific Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the College of Technology Field.  Saturday also marks the annual MSUB Futbol Frenzy with a BBQ beginning at 12:45 prior to the 1 p.m. women’s soccer game against Western Oregon at the College of Technology Field.
