Yellowjackets’ Charles, Hoskins and Milroy Named 1st-Team
CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine District 7 Academic-All Stars

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings men’s soccer student-athletes Sam Charles, Justin Hoskins and Tom Milroy have been named to the first-team College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine College Division District 7 Academic All-Stars.

Milroy, a junior defender from Aberdeen, Scotland, is a health and human performance major and carries a 3.90 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  Hoskins, a senior forward from Billings, Mont., has a 3.89 grade point average in accounting, while Charles, a junior forward from Chiswell, England, also is a health and human performance major and has a 3.70 grade point average.

All three student-athletes move on to the national ballot with the Academic All-America team scheduled to be announced Wednesday, Nov. 19 

Charles leads the team and the conference with 17 goals, four assists and 38 points.  He is sixth nationally in goals per game (1.13) and seventh in points at a 2.53 clip.  He has seven game winners this season to lead the team as well.  He has played and started in all 15 games.

Hoskins is third on the team in goals with three and has six points on the year.  He has seven shots and six on goal and has played and started in all 15 games, helping the ‘Jackets to a 9-6 record and a 2-3 record in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Milroy leads the Yellowjacket defense and has played and started all 15 games.  He has one assist on the year with two shots and one on goal.  He assisted on Charles’ first goal against Saint Martin’s (Oct. 2) which helped give the Yellowjackets their first conference victory of the season.  Milroy has helped lead the Yellowjackets to six shutouts this season and a team, goals against average of 1.05.

MSUB leads the first team with three players named.  Rockhurst College had two named to the first team.  Seattle Pacific’s Andy Wolverton is the only other GNAC team to have a player named to the first or second team.  SPU is in District 8. 

The Yellowjackets conclude the home portion of the schedule Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the College of Technology Field against Western Washington.  Prior to the game, MSUB will honor eight seniors who will be playing their final home game.
