Yellowjacket Men’s Golf Opens Bob Writz Invitational in Third Place
Day 1 Results
LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team opened the 2009 Bob Writz Invitational in third place after a team score of 297 Monday. Colorado Christian entered the clubhouse with the lead after carding a 288, followed by Regis University at 293 on the par 72, 7,276-yard Fox Hollow Golf Course.
Fort Hays State University and Colorado School of Mines are tied fourth (305) followed by Oklahoma Panhandle State University (311) and the Air Force Academy Junior Varsity team at 319.
MSUB’s Travis Gates and Colorado Christian’s Jon Klingensmith lead the field after carding 70s. Mike Watson is tied for ninth after shooting a 74, followed by Jacob Harr (T-15) with a 76, Jeff Allen (T-21) fired a 77 and Jeff Dalton was tied for 30th after shooting a 79 to round out the Yellowjacket scoring.
Individually, Chris Richter shot a 77 and is tied for 21st.
Inclement weather forced the seven-team field to alter the tournament from Sunday to Monday as the teams will play the final round Tuesday.
