Yellowjacket Men’s Links Finish Mustang Intercollegiate

Final Results

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team finished tenth at the Mustang Intercollegiate hosted by Western New Mexico University.  The Yellowjackets fired a third round team score of 311 for a 928 total.  University of New Mexico’s B Team won the event with an 843 54-hole total in the 10-team field.

Central Missouri finished second with a score of 873, followed by Fort Lewis at 883, Western New Mexico at 887 and West Texas A&M and Colorado State-Pueblo tied for fifth with a 905 score.  The Yellowjackets were five strokes behind ninth place Colorado Christian.

Individually, UNM’s Parker Pemberton took home medalist honors with a 12-under 204.  Central Missouri’s Justin Yoder was runner-up with a 207 score, Brandon Putnam (UNM, 211), Luke Tanner (Fort Lewis) and Guillermo Chavez (UNM) all within one stroke of each other rounding out the top five.

MSUB’s Jacob Harr led the way with a 228 score and finished tied for 26th.  Harr fired a team-best 72 in the final round.  Jeff Allen finished tied for 37th with a 233 score as he improved from an 82 and 76 to a final round 75.  Travis Gates carded a third round 81 for a 234 score and was tied for 41st.  Mike Watson tied for 44th with a 235 score and Michael Konrad finished 52nd with a 243 score.

Playing as an individual, MSUB’s Jeff Dalton also tied for 26th with a 228 score as he also brought his scores down in each round.  Dalton began the tournament with a 79 and followed with a 76 and carded a 73 Tuesday.  Chris Richter finished 54th with a 248 score also competing as an individual.

The Yellowjackets return home to get ready for the Colorado School of Mines Tournament, Apr. 4-6 in Denver, Colo.
