Hall Named Co-GNAC Player of the Week
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings senior men’s basketball player, Michael Hall, was named Co-Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday for his efforts against 10th-ranked Gonzaga this past weekend. Hall shares the honor with Blake Poole of Saint Martin’s.
Hall, a 6-2 senior guard from Dayton, Ohio, transferred to MSUB from the University of Idaho. In his first regular season contest as a Yellowjacket at NCAA Division I and 10th-ranked Gonzaga Saturday, he scored a game-high 24 points on a game-best 8 of 17 from the field. In addition, he was a game-high 5 of 12 from beyond the arc and tallied four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Yellowjackets were down 33-14 with 3:32 left in the first half. That’s when Hall took over and scored the final 14 points of the half to pull the Yellowjackets within five points at 33-28 at halftime. Gonzaga went just over four minutes without a point during Hall’s run.
Hall becomes the first Yellowjacket men’s basketball player to earn GNAC Player of the Week honors since MSUB joined the league last year. Last week, Hall dropped in 32 points in a 94-91 exhibition victory over Dickinson State.
Poole scored 29 points and tallied 21 rebounds to earn all-tournament honors as he helped lead the Saints to two West Region victories this past weekend against Notre Dame de Namur and Chico State.
The Yellowjackets open the home slate Saturday at 7 p.m. versus Montana-Western.
