Yellowjackets Ink Second Spring Signee
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings head men’s basketball coach, George Pfeifer, announced Saturday that DeAndre Chambers has signed with the Yellowjackets for the 2009-2010 season. Chambers is the second spring signee and third signee for next season.
DeAndre is a very valuable signee for this incoming class,” Pfeifer added. “I know people are going to see he can score, which he has demonstrated and proven against high-level competition. However, his real value is his competitive spirit, industrious approach to the game and athletic ability. DeAndre can get down and defend which is a real bonus for someone who can score like he does.”
Chambers, a 6-1, 170-lb., guard from Monroe, N.C., played the last two years at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, Okla. There, he helped lead the team to 27 wins which was the most in school history and WOSC was ranked 14th nationally. Chambers also helped the team beat No. 1-ranked Midland Junior College both years. He averaged 12.1 points per game on a team with numerous scorers and shot a team-best 41-percent from the 3-point line.
Prior to Western Oklahoma State, Chambers attended Jireh Prep in North Carolina, where he averaged 27 points a game, which was good for third-best in North Carolina. That year, he averaged 7.1 rebounds per game and 3.2 steals per game.
Prior to Jireh, Chambers graduated from Forest Hill High School in 2006. He was an all-conference, all-tournament and all-region selection. He averaged 13.3 points per game in 2006.
Chambers joins Joel Barndt of Billings Central High School and Tyrone Williams of Miles Community College as the three signees so far for 2009.
