Yellowjackets Chase Away the Bears

MSUB-RMC Dual Meet Results

BILLINGS, Mont. –  The Montana State University Billings men's and women's cross country teams had a strong showing in the cold today against cross town rival Rocky Mountain College.  The men won 24-31 while the women were victorious by a score of 26-33.  Both races were a 5K.  The Yellowjackets are off until Saturday, Sept. 13, when they travel to Spearfish, S.D., to compete in the Black Hills State Invitational.

“It was a good first outing for a young team, “ Said head coach Dave Coppock.  “We need to pick up our speed as the season progresses.  It was a cold wet day and I felt they came ready to run.”

For the men, Tyson Vanderby was the top runner as he ran 17:15 to finish second overall.  Rounding out the top five was Taylor Canfield (4th – 17:39), Travis Hutchinson (5th – 17:42), Kelley Miller (9th – 18:05) and Michael Hildebrand (13th – 19:39).

The women were paced by four runners in the top seven.  Deanna Stanley was the top jacket as she ran 20:56 to finish fourth overall.  She was closely followed by Sarah Jackson (5th – 21:01), Katie Thiel (6th – 21:19) and Mykel Ler (7th – 21:21).  Rounding out the top five was Cierra Dornfield (9th – 21:43).
