Complete Results

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State Billings women’s cross country team ran another tight grouping to finish ninth at the Montana State Invitational on Saturday.  The Lady Yellowjackets were paced by Mykel Ler’s 64th place finish.  MSUB finished 39 points behind Idaho State, and every team ahead of the Jackets in the 13-team race was a Division I team.

Ler (Sidney) covered the three-mile course in 19:30, over two and a half minutes faster than her time last week in South Dakota.  The Jackets’ top five runners were within 23 seconds of each other, and only 1:05 separated the team’s top eight finishers.

MSUB’s top five placers were freshmen.  Following Ler were Katie Thiel (Powell, Wyo.) in 65th place in 19:34, Diana Stanley (Miles City) in 66th in 19:37, Malori Woodford (Mosby) in 71st in 19:49, and Morgan Streeter (Ryegate) in 72nd in 19:53.  The Yellowjackets had 11 runners competing, including Cierra Dornfeld (Woodbury, Minn.) in 75th in 20:12, Sarah Jackson (Bozeman) in 78th in 20:27, Colleen Dalimata (Columbia Falls) in 81st in 20:35, Erin Mueller (Billings) in 90th in 21:23, Kym Island (Columbia Falls) in 97th in 22:21, and Erin Gannon (Yankton, S.D.) in 98th in 22:39.

The women’s team race was won by Utah State, who edged out Montana 59-73.  Top individual honors went to Weber State’s Sariah Long with a time of 16:38.

The Yellowjacket men finished 11th in the 11-team men’s five-mile.  Freshman Ryan Ceynar (Glendive) placed 79th with a time of 28:24, forty seconds faster than he ran last week.  Jarred Rensvold (Wolf Point) placed 85th in 28:52, Kelley Miller (Glendive) placed 93rd in 29:29, James Hopkins (Helena) placed 112th in 33:41, and Joe Houghton placed 116th in 35:45.
