Lady Jacket Golf Seventh at Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Montana State Billings women’s golf team finished seventh at the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference fall invitational hosted by University of Nebraska-Kearney on Monday and Tuesday.  The Yellowjackets fell two spots from their first-round tie for fifth, closing the tourney with a two-round total of 749.

Amy Nordeen (Hamilton) led the Yellowjackets with a 20th place finish after rounds of 90 and 89.  Nordeen was one of two Yellowjackets to improve her score in the second round.  Karrie Brack (Livingston) shot an 89 on Tuesday after a 94 Monday to finish in a tie for 25th.

Lindsay Erickson (Helena) slipped from 11th to 23rd with a second-round 95.  She carded the Jackets’ best round of the tournament with an opening-round 87.  Nicole Salsbery (Malta) finished 43rd with rounds of 101 and 104, and Calina Finnicum (Shepherd) placed 49th with two rounds of 107.

Preseason RMAC favorite Western New Mexico led wire to wire for the team title.  The Mustangs shot 339 and 317 for a two-day total of 656.  Nebraska-Kearney’s Kami Hehn rallied from two strokes down to claim top individual honors, posting rounds of 81 and 78.

The Yellowjackets continue their fall schedule on Sept. 17 and 18 at the second RMAC fall invitational at Regis University.
