Cazemier Named to CoSIDA Academic Team

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings volleyball player Alicia Cazemier was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII College Division Volleyball First Team on Thursday.  The honor is awarded by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Cazemier is a senior middle blocker from Vauxhall, Alberta.  ""

Cazemier was an All-District VII third team selection the last two years.  By earning first team honors this year, she will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America.

A four-year starter for the Yellowjackets, Cazemier has broken numerous school records on the court.  Entering her final two matches of the season, she holds school career records for kills, total blocks, solo blocks, block assists, blocks average, and hitting percentage.  She also ranks in the top 10 in school history for career service aces, kills average, and games played.  In addition to her career records, Cazemier has 26 entries in the MSU Billings single season record books.  In the classroom, Cazemier has a 3.74 cumulative grade point average as a biology major and has been a three-time academic all-conference selection.

Cazemier will play her final two home games at Alterowitz Gymnasium this weekend.  The Yellowjackets host Seattle Pacific on Thursday and Northwest Nazarene on Saturday.  Saturday will be Senior Night.  Both matches start at 7 p.m.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America program divides colleges and universities into eight districts.  Schools from Montana are part of District VII, which also includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.  Nominees for the All-District VII Volleyball Team could come from any Division II, Division III, or NAIA school in any of those states or provinces.
