MSUB Tennis Teams
Picked Fourth in RMAC Preseason Poll;
Olivera Named to Preseason Squad
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Montana State
Billings men’s and women’s tennis teams have both been selected
fourth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason poll
as voted on by the league’s coaches. In addition, MSUB sophomore Luis Olivera was selected to
the preseason All-RMAC Team on the men’s side.
Metro State was tabbed league favorite in the
men’s poll, receiving six first place votes. Nebraska-Kearney was selected second with one first place
vote and 13 points. Western New Mexico was third (18) followed by MSUB (20), Mesa
State (25), Colorado State-Pueblo (29) and Colorado Christian
with 36 points. Nebraska-Kearney finished first last season and this is MSUB’s
first season in the RMAC for tennis.
On the women’s side, Mesa State is first with
five first place votes and seven points. Nebraska-Kearney is second with two first place votes and
14 points, followed by Western New Mexico (20), MSUB (21), Metro
State (24), Colorado State-Pueblo (25) and Colorado Christian
with 36 points.
Olivera, a sophomore from Mexico City,
Mexico, is the lone Yellowjacket named to either preseason team. Metro State’s Sascha Ruckelshausen was named Preseason
Player of the Year on the men’s side, while Mesa State’s Teri
Mayeda earned the honors on the women’s side.
The Yellowjackets begin the season this
weekend at Montana State.
