Yellowjacket Golf Sixteenth at Poor Boy Invite (2/26/07)
Round 1 Results

BAKERSFIELD, CA-  The Montana State-Billings men’s golf team completed the first 36-holes of competition at the Poor Boy Invitational hosted by Cal State-Bakersfield Monday in Bakersfield, California.  The Yellowjackets shot rounds of 306 and 309 for a combined 615 and sixteenth place.  The teams will play the final 18-holes Tuesday at the Seven Oaks Country Club.

UCLA broke the course record that has stood since 2003 by four strokes to stand atop the team leader board shooting rounds of 271 and 280 for a 25-under par 551.  Eighteen strokes back and in second place is the host team Cal State-Bakersfield with a 287 and 282 for a 569.  Third place belongs to Cal State-San Bernardino with rounds of 285 and 287 for a four-under 572. 

UCLA also holds individual top honors with Lucas Lee carding rounds of 65 and 67 for a 12-under par 132.  Eric Justensen of Cal Stanislaus is second with a first round 68 followed by a 66 for a 10-under 134.  Host team Roadrunners’ Brady Baguio and Sonoma State’s Kyle Hopkins are knotted in third place with an 8-under par 136.  The Jackets’ Zach Abels (Twin Falls, ID) is tied for thirty-eighth carding a first round 76 followed by a two-under par round of 70 for a combined 146. 

Following tomorrow’s final round, the Yellowjackets will have off nearly a month before returning to Bakersfield, California for part two of the Poor Boy Invitational held March 26.
