BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings men’s and women’s cross country team
were host to the Yellowjacket Invitational Saturday
at Riverfront Park. This race marks the final
competition for the Jackets leading up to the South
Central Regional that will be held in Abilene, Texas
November 5.
In the women’s 5K, Tiffany
Czarnomski of University of Mary led with a time of
18:19. The top finisher for the Lady Jackets was Susan Kocab (Fr., Billings, MT) finishing tenth
in a time of 19:56. University of Mary took top
honors in the team competition with a total score of
18. The Jackets and Blue Hawks battled it out for
second place. The Lady Jackets scored 55 points to
the Blue Hawks 56, giving MSUB the one point edge
for the second straight race against Dickinson.
The 8K race saw the men from
Dickinson dominate the team competition winning with
a total 16 points. The Jacket men finished second
with 44 points. Flathead Valley Community College
placed third with 75. In the individual race, John
Kungu from Dickinson had a winning time of 25:51.
Yellowjacket Sam Hartpence (Jr., Custer, SD) finished sixth
with a time of 27:23.
