Lady Jacket Golf Struggles at Monterey Bay (10/24/05)

SEASIDE, CA – Nobody broke 90 for the Montana State-Billings women’s golf team Monday at the Golf Mart/Lady Otter Invitational as the Yellowjackets slipped to a tie for seventeenth place after the first round.  The 23-team tournament wraps up with 18 holes Tuesday at the Black Horse Golf Course.

Emily Maag (So., Billings, MT) and Halley Montalban (So., Billings, MT) shot identical 90s on Monday, each posting 46 on the front and 44 on the back.  The duo is tied for 57th place.  Jessica Boyer (Fr., Billings, MT) and Nicole Salsbery (So., Malta, MT) are in a tie for 88th after each carded a 97.  Amanda Rabenberg (Sr., Livingston, MT) shot an even 100 for a tie for 96th place.

Western Washington, ranked ninth in the nation, has a narrow lead in the team standings after a first round 319.  San Diego State is close behind after a 326.  Western’s Candice Wagner leads the race for top medalist honors with a 4-over 77 on the par-73 course.  MSU Billings and St. Martin’s each shot 374 as a team.
