Balanced Effort Carries Lady Jackets over BYU-Hawaii (Sept. 27, 2004)
Box Score

LAIE, HI – Four players reached double figures for kills Monday night as MSU Billings defeated BYU-Hawaii in PacWest Conference volleyball action.  The Yellowjackets rallied back from game point in each of the first two games to take the match 32-30, 34-32, 26-30, 30-21.  The win is the first ever for the Jackets in Laie and just the second all-time against the Seasiders.  MSU Billings defeated BYU-Hawaii in Billings four seasons ago.

The Seasiders served for each of the first two games leading 29-28, but the Yellowjackets were able to hold on and rally for victories in each.  A service ace from Natalie Bills (So., S, Provo, UT) ended game one.  MSU Billings then rallied from a 17-11 deficit in game two and survived two Seasiders game points before pulling out the win.

After dropping a close third game, the Yellowjackets controlled the fourth and deciding game to close the match and improve to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in the PacWest.  The formerly nationally-ranked Seasiders lost for the fourth-straight time to fall to 6-6 overall and 0-4 in the PacWest.

Senior Andrea Donahue (MB, Whitefish, MT) led the Yellowjackets in kills with 18 on a .375 hitting percentage.  The Yellowjackets hit .233 as a team behind 52 assists from Bills.  She continues to lead the conference in assists per game at 12.20.  Bills also had three service aces in the match.

Olivia Munro (Sr., OH, Toronto, Ontario), who broke the school record for career kills last week, knocked down 17 kills and added 14 digs in the winning effort.  She hit .231 on 52 attempts with just five errors.

Jessica Bratton (So., OH, Casper, WY) finished with 13 kills, and Alicia Cazemier (Fr., MB, Vauxhall, Alberta) added a dozen kills.  Cazemier was also in on nine blocks, maintaining her PacWest lead in blocks per game.  She is now averaging 1.42 per game.

Alberta Letoa (So., L, Laie, HI) picked up 14 digs and had a service ace while playing in front of her family and friends.  The Laie native was a standout at Kahuku High School before enrolling at MSU Billings last year.

The Seasiders were paced by 14 kills and 19 digs from Beth Robertson.  Yu Chuan Weng added 17 kills and 11 digs.  Noelle Filimoeatu had 18 kills.

The Yellowjackets continue PacWest play all week in Hawaii.  They play at ninth-ranked Hawaii Pacific on Tuesday, at Chaminade on Friday, and make the short flight to face Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday.
