Lady Jackets’ Milne Named to All-Region Team (Mar. 7, 2005)

BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings senior Robyn Milne was named to the 2005 Daktronics All-West Region second team for the second-straight year on Monday.  The 6-3 center from Richey, MT was one of just three repeat selections on the 11 player all-region team.

The team is selected by the sports information directors at the region’s schools that sponsor women’s basketball.  The region includes teams which compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference plus independents Grand Canyon, Montana State-Billings and Western New Mexico.

Milne led her team to the NCAA Tournament, which begins this Friday in Seattle, WA.  She averaged a double-double of 12.9 points and 10.1 rebounds a game through the regular season and steadily climbed the school record list for career points, rebounds and blocks.  In the final game of the regular season on Saturday, Milne became the school’s all-time leader for career rebounds with 941 and career blocked shots with 274.

Milne’s climb up the blocked shot charts at MSU Billings coincided with her breaking into the NCAA career record book.  She has climbed to fourteenth in NCAA Division II history for career blocked shots, passing former teammate Jessie Henigman.  Milne needs only one blocked shot at the NCAA Tournament this week to move into a tie for thirteenth all-time, and five more to move up to twelfth.

Last week Milne was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team.  She was also named to the CoSIDA District VII Academic first team earlier in the year.  Along with averaging a double-double—and posting nine double-doubles this season—Milne blocked 100 shots.  She needs only one blocked shot at the tournament to tie the school single season record.
