BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings volleyball team improved to 5-1 with a pair of three game sweeps on Friday.  The Yellowjackets quickly downed MSU-Northern in the noon match, 30-16, 30-15, 30-23.  They dispatched Minot State in the nightcap, 30-25, 30-19, 30-27.

Minot State (4-5) swept MSU-Northern (4-6) in the day’s second match, 30-27, 30-23, 30-18.  Minot and Northern will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.  That match will be followed by MSU Billings and Minot State at noon.  The Yellowjackets were originally scheduled to play Northern at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, but because of a scheduling conflict the match will be made up on another date.

Against the Skylights, MSU Billings had a .301 team hitting percentage and dominated the match from the start.  Andrea Donahue (Sr., MB, Whitefish, MT) led all players with 17 kills on a .500 hitting percentage.  Jessica Bratton (So., OH, Casper, WY) added 16 kills with just two errors on 26 attempts (.538).

Olivia Munro (Sr., OH, Toronto, Ontario) finished with 15 kills and a match-high 18 digs.  Munro now has 94 kills for the season and 987 for her career, leaving her 56 kills short of the school career record of 1,043 set by Brandee Sayles.  If Munro registers 13 kills on Saturday, she will become just the second Yellowjacket in school history to reach 1,000 for a career.  She has already eclipsed 1,000 digs for her career with 1,050.

No Skylights reached double-digit kill or digs in the match.  Jordan Fox had five kills and seven digs.  Julie Henderson added three kills and nine digs.

In the final match of the day, Munro carried the offensive load for the Yellowjackets, knocking down 17 kills on 55 attempts with just five errors (.218).  Donahue had an efficient 14 kills on 21 attempts with only one error (.619).  Bratton added ten kills.  Freshman Alicia Cazemier (MB, Vauxhall, Alberta) finished with six kills and five total blocks.  Setter Natalie Bills (So., Provo, UT) handed out 42 assists against the Beavers to go along with her 45 assists against Northern earlier in the day.  She is averaging 13.75 assists per game this season.

Minot State was anchored by ten kills apiece from Whitney Stobbs and Lisa Webb.  Webb posted a double-double with 13 digs.
