Tennis Comes Up Empty Handed (Feb. 21, 2005)

BOZEMAN, MT –   The Montana State University-Billings men’s tennis team traveled to Bozeman for a four-team invitational Friday the 18^th through Sunday the 20^th.  The Jackets were unable to clinch a win against the Bobcats in Friday’s match-up falling 7-0.  MSU Billings had match play against Lewis-Clark State College, a powerful NAIA school that ended in a 9-0 win for the Warriors.  The Yellowjackets had their final chance to score team points against University of Montana on Sunday where the team played tougher but were unable to earn any match points falling to the Grizzlies 7-0.

“MSU-Bozeman is picked to win the Big Sky Conference and they played like they will,” said head coach Jerry Peach.  “Our players were just out skilled by a team that has played a lot of matches.  On Sunday we played better overall and though we were unable to score points, we now know what is needed for the final two-thirds of our season.  I feel we will be able to turn the corner and have a good outcome of our season,” added Peach.
