Offense Struggles in Lady Yellowjacket Loss to SPU (Nov. 22, 2003)
Box Score

SEATTLE, WA – Seattle Pacific held MSU Billings to just 18 second half points Saturday night in a 66-42 win over the Yellowjackets in the Falcon Tip-off Classic.  It was the seventh-straight time that the Falcons have beaten the Yellowjackets in Seattle, including last year’s West Region semifinals.  MSU Billings falls to 2-2 with the loss while SPU remains unbeaten at 2-0.

MSU Billings was able to build an early five-point lead, but Yellowjacket turnovers helped Seattle Pacific take a 35-24 lead into intermission.  The Yellowjackets shot just 29-percent from the floor in the first half.

A 23-6 Falcons run in the second half broke the game open as turnovers and cold shooting plagued the Lady Jackets.  They committed 29 turnovers in the game and finished shooting just 22.6-percent from the field.  The Falcons’ Valerie Gustafson scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed ten rebounds en route to being named the tournament MVP.

Yellowjacket center Robyn Milne (Jr., Richey, MT) was denied her fourth-straight double-double of the season, scoring nine points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds.  Milne was named to the all-tournament team after scoring 24 points and pulling down 27 rebounds in the two games in Seattle.

Tanya Petersen (So., Billings, MT) was the only Yellowjacket to reach double figures with 10 points.  Alisa Lordemann (Jr., Glendive, MT) added eight points in the Yellowjackets’ worst offensive outing since December 9, 1995 when they lost to North Dakota State, 75-41.

The Lady Yellowjackets will host cross-town rival Rocky Mountain College on December 1 with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.  They will then travel to Missoula to take on the Grizzlies on December 4.
