Yellowjackets Fall to Humboldt in Men’s Soccer (October 13, 2002)

NAMPA, ID – MSU Billings outplayed Humboldt State everywhere except on the scoreboard as the Yellowjackets fell 1-0 in men’s soccer action Sunday.  The Lumberjacks scored the game’s only goal in the 55th minute.

MSU Billings (5-9) out-shot Humboldt State (3-10-1) 11-9 in the game, but Lumberjacks goalkeeper Justin Gyenis save eight shots on the day, including five in the first half.  The Yellowjackets put three shots on goal in the final 45 minutes, but were unable to come up with the score.

Splitting time for the second game in a row, Yellowjacket goalkeepers Kevin Petritz and Yacine Zerizef combined for five saves.  Petritz stopped four first-half shots to improve his save percentage to .639.  Yacine faced only two shots-on-goal in the second half, saving one.  Geoff Scott’s sidekick in the 55th minute found the net to give HSU the win.  Yacine’s save percentage is now .696.

The Yellowjackets will travel to Denver to face Regis University on Friday and will play Colorado Christian University in Lakewood on Sunday.
