Yellowjackets Score Top Five Finish at Colorado Meet (April 22, 2003)

BILLINGS, MT – Chris Haas and Chris McConnell each placed in the top ten for the second event in a row as MSU Billings finished fifth in the team standings at the Colorado Mines/Regis University Invitational in Lakewood, Colo.  Bryan Barthelmess added a top-twenty finish to help the Jackets to the fifth place finish.  It was the final team event of the year for the Yellowjackets.  Haas and McConnell will now wait to see if their individual performances can earn them at-large berths to the regional tournament.

The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs won the 27-hole event, finishing with a two-day team stroke total of 447.  Initially, the tournament was scheduled to consist of 36 holes, but inclement weather shortened Monday’s action at The Meadows G.C. in Littleton.  On Monday evening, the event was altered to be an 18-hole event at Bear Creek G.C. in Lakewood, but it was later determined that the first nine holes played Monday morning would count.
