Each week we will highlight a
Yellowjacket student-athlete who excelled during the
previous week. Below is a list of the
"Yellowjackets of the Week" for 2004-2005.

Joey Ehnes, May 16, 2005
.....Ehnes, a senior pitcher from Great Falls, MT,
was named to the NCAA West Regional All-Tournament
Team...she was 2-2 with a 1.81 ERA at the
tournament...Ehnes pitched every inning of the
tournament for the Yellowjackets, striking out 19 in
27 innings.
Christy Wankel, May 16, 2005
.....Wankel, a junior outfielder from Great Falls,
MT, was named to the NCAA West Regional
All-Tournament Team...she batted a team high .364 in
four games, leading all outfielders at the
tournament in batting average...Wankel was Wankel
was 4-for-11 at the plate with three RBI and two
runs.
Softball Team, May 10,
2005
.....The Yellowjacket softball team are collectively
the Yellowjackets of the Week after qualifying for
their first NCAA Tournament in school
history...MSU Billings earned the No. 3 seed at the
NCAA West Regional which runs May 12-15...the
softball team is the first Yellowjacket team besides
men's or women's basketball to qualify for NCAA
Tournament play.
Theresa Campbell,
Softball, May 2, 2005
.....Campbell, a senior from Great Falls, MT,
batted .647 in six games last week to
lead MSU Billings to six wins...was
11-for-17 at the plate with four home runs and 10
RBI in the six games...she
also scored six times...five
of her eleven hits went for extra bases and she
posted a 1.412 slugging percentage for the week...that
boosted her season slugging percentage to a PacWest
best .805...Campbell also
leads the conference with 14 home runs...she
ranks second with a .478 on base percentage and
sixth with a .398 batting average.
Halley Montalban, Women's Golf, April 25, 2005
.....Montalban, a freshman from Billings, earned
first team All-PacWest honors after placing second
at the PacWest Championships in Hilo, HI...Montalban
shot rounds of 76, 78, and 77 to finish with an
18-over 231 for the three rounds.
Chris McConnell, Men's Golf, April 25, 2005
.....McConnell, a junior from Lewistown, MT, earned
first team All-PacWest honors after placing third at
the PacWest Championships in Hilo, HI...McConnell
shot rounds of 71, 69 and 69 on the par-71 course to
finish with a 4-under 209 for the three rounds...it
was the first time a Yellowjacket golfer has
finished a three round tournament under par.
Nicholas Larson, Men's Golf, April 18, 2005
.....Larson, a freshman from Riverton, WY, shot a
1-under 71 in Tuesday's final round of the Buzzini/Stanislaus
Invitational to place in the top 10...he tied for
ninth place with a three round total of 218...Larson
carded rounds of 73, 74 and 71...it was the first
time a men's player has finished in the top 10 at a
major West Region tournament.
Cami Rainey, Softball, April 11, 2005
.....Rainey, a senior from Terreton, ID, was named
PacWest Player of the Week after leading the
Yellowjackets to a 5-1 conference mark for the weekincluding
a pair of upsets of first place Hawaii-Hilo...the
Yellowjackets’ leadoff hitter batted .571 for the
week, scoring 10 runs and driving in four RBI...she
had a .905 slugging percentage with five extra base
hits—four doubles and a home run.
Sara Hanley, Softball, April 4, 2005
.....Hanley, a senior from Kalispell, MT, helped
lead the Yellowjackets to a 4-2 record at the Easton
Tournament of Champions...she batted .529 in six
games, going 9-for-17 at the plate...she also scored
two runs...Hanley was named to the Easton Tournament
of Champions All-Tournament Team and also earned
Pacific West Conference Co-Player of the Week
honors...for the season, Hanley is hitting .290.

March 28, 2005
.....The MSU Billings Cheer Team won the team
competition for the second-straight year at the COA Open in
Irvine, CA...Frankie Reno and
Kristin Hodges won first
place
in the Co-ed Partner Division...Marc Snider and Brooke Henderson
took second place...Bradley Lauckner
and Veronica Butts took fourth place...Lindsey Hart and Eric Faulks
placed eighth...Brandi Hallgren, Laura
Steiger, Ashley Henderson, Kristin Hodges, and
Lindsey Leischner captured a first-place trophy in
the All-Girls Partner Stunting division...Lindsey Hart, Lynsey Parrish, Marissa Anderson,
Tracy Mann and Anna Ferguson, earned second place.
Marta Borges, Women's Tennis, March 21, 2005
.....Borges, a freshman from Lisbon, Portugal,
had singles and doubles wins over
Colorado-Colorado Springs, Colorado
State-Pueblo, and Metro State on
the Yellowjackets' spring break trip...she also
posted a doubles win over Colorado College
and was 7-1 overall for the week, leading the Lady
Jackets to a 3-1 record.
Rachel Quarnburg, Softball, March 14, 2005
.....Quarnburg, a sophomore from Billings, batted a
blistering .667 for the week to lead the
Yellowjackets to a 4-1 record...she was 8-of-12 at
the plate and drove in eight RBI...she also scored
two runs and hit her second home run of the year.
Cami Rainey, Softball, March 7, 2005
.....Rainey, a senior from Terreton, ID, batted .500
for the week as the Yellowjackets went 6-2 on an
important West Region road swing...she was 14-of-28
at the plate with a team-best nine RBI and eight
runs scored...Rainey also had three doubles and two
home runs for the week.
Justin Hassell, Men's Basketball, February 28,
2005
.....Hassell, a senior from Brooklyn, NY, averaged
27 points and 10.5 rebounds to lead the
Yellowjackets to a pair of wins to close out the
home schedule...he netted a career-high 33 points
with 12 rebounds on Senior Night as the Jackets
defeated Johnson & Wales, 124-92.
Robyn Milne, Women's Basketball, February 21,
2005
.....Milne, a senior from Richey, MT, led the Lady
Jackets to a pair of important West Region wins over
the weekend...she averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds,
and four blocked shots in the two games...in
Saturday's overtime win, she scored 26 points,
including the game winning basket...with her eight
blocked shots in the two games, Milne moved to No.
17 in NCAA Division II history for career blocked
shots.
Cameron Munoz, Men's Basketball, February 14,
2005
.....Munoz, a junior guard from Chino, CA, was named
the Pacific West Conference player of the week after
leading the Yellowjackets to three straight
conference wins...in the three
games he knocked down 18 3-pointers with seven in
two of the games...his 6.0
made threes per game for the week moved his season
average to 4.16, taking over the top spot in the
PacWest stats rankings...for
the week Munoz was 23-51 from the field, 18-43 from
3-point, and 17-21 from the line.
Jenny Langford, Women's Basketball, February 7,
2005
.....Langford, a junior guard from Reedpoint, MT,
scored 11 points in the Lady Yellowjackets road win
over St. Martin's, the fifth-ranked team in the West
Region....Langford was 3-of-6 from 3-point range,
including a three with just 1:28 remaining to put
the game out of reach.
Lucas Walker, Men's Basketball, January 31, 2005
.....Walker, a freshman from Launceston, Australia,
was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the
week after averaging 24 points in two Yellowjacket
wins...he scored 26 points in just 14 minutes in
Thursday's 118-70 win over Western New Mexico...he
added 22 points and eight rebounds in Saturday's
104-76 victory.
Carlin Hughes, Men's Basketball, January 24,
2005
.....Hughes, a freshman from Perth, Australia,
averaged 11.7 points and 5.7 assists per game in
three PacWest Conference games...he scored 17 points
and handed out a career-high nine assists in the
Yellowjackets' first conference win of the season on
Tuesday.
Tanya Petersen, Women's Basketball, January 17,
2005
.....Petersen, a junior forward from Billings, had a
solid game in all aspects when the Yellowjackets
defeated Montana Tech last week...she scored a
game-high 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting...she handed
out four assists...and she blocked four shots...her
four blocks gave her 59 for her career, just five
short of tying Shelley Altrogge for fifth all-time
in school history.
Michelle Lieber, Women's Basketball, January 10,
2005
.....Lieber, a sophomore forward from Gillette, WY,
averaged 15.5 points and 9 rebounds a game in two
games for the Lady Yellowjackets...she scored 16
points and grabbed seven rebounds in a road win
against Northwest Nazarene on Monday...she posted a
double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds in a loss
to St. Martin's on Thursday.
Buddy Windy Boy, Men's Basketball, January 3,
2005
.....Windy Boy, a junior from Lodge Grass, MT,
scored a game-high 29 points in the Yellowjackets'
103-81 win against Haskell Indian Nations...he was
9-of-16 from the field and 8-of-15 from 3-point
range...Windy Boy played all 40 minutes in the
game...he also grabbed six rebounds and handed out
four assists.
Justin Hassell, Men's Basketball, December 27,
2004
.....Hassell, a senior captain from Brooklyn, NY,
averaged 17.5 points and 10 rebounds in two wins
against Saint Leo on Monday and Tuesday...he
recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12
rebounds in Monday's 107-99 victory and netted 18
points and grabbed eight boards in Tuesday's 113-106
overtime win...Hassell was named the Pacific West
Conference player of the week for his performances.
Shannon Harvey, Women's Basketball, December 20,
2004
.....Harvey, a sophomore from Billings, tied the
school single-game record for 3-pointers in
Saturday's win over Humboldt State...she drained
seven from behind the arc to finish with a
career-high 21 points...Harvey currently leads the
Lady Jackets in 3-point shooting, averaging 2.6 made
3-pointers per game...she is also tops on the team
with a blistering 45 percent averaging from long
range.
Robyn Milne, Women's Basketball, December 13,
2004
.....Milne, a senior from Richey, MT, was named to
the North Coast Inn Classic All-Tournament Team
after averaging 17 points and 15.5 rebounds a
game...she recorded double-doubles in both games of
the tournament, including 24 points and 19 rebounds
in a win over Southern Oregon...with her 34 points
over the weekend, Milne became just the 21st player
in Lady Jacket history to score over 800 points in a
career...she is also the sixth player to have more
than 700 rebounds.
Lucas Walker, Men's Basketball, December 6, 2004
.....Walker, a freshman from Launceston, Australia,
recorded a double-double of 13 points and 13
rebounds in Saturday afternoon's 101-90 win over
visiting Chadron State...the 13 rebounds was a
season-high for Walker, who has started every game
so far...he has two double-doubles in four games and
is averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Cameron Munoz, Men's Basketball, November 29,
2004
.....Munoz, a junior from Chino, CA, totaled 48
points in two wins over Ohio Valley College over the
weekend...he netted a game-high 33 points in
Friday's win, making eight of the Yellowjackets' 12
3-pointers...Munoz had 10 3-pointers for the
weekend, putting him over the 200 mark for his
career...he currently ranks fifth in school history
with 209 career 3-pointers.
Robyn Milne, Women's Basketball, November 22,
2004
.....Milne, a senior center from Richey, MT, scored
a career-high 29 points on Saturday in the Lady
Yellowjackets' season-opening win over Western
Washington...she was 11-of-15 from the field and a
perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line...Milne also
grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and narrowly missed
a triple-double, handing out a career-high eight
assists.
Jessica Bratton, Volleyball, November 15, 2004
.....Bratton finished the season with a flourish,
totaling 58 kills in two matches at Western New
Mexico...her 33 kills in Friday's match tied for the
fourth-most in a single match in PacWest
history...she averaged 6.44 kills per game for the
weekend to climb into third in the PacWest's final
rankings for kills per game at 4.48.
Jessica Bratton, Volleyball, November 8, 2004
.....Bratton, a sophomore from Casper, WY, had one
of her best weekend's of the season in leading the
Jackets to two wins over Hawaii-Hilo...the outside
hitter recorded 23 kills and 23 digs in Monday
night's win...on Tuesday, she hammered down a
match-high 21 kills to go with 17 digs...for the
season, Bratton currently ranks fifth in the PacWest
for kills per game (4.26).
Candy Cherry, Women's Soccer, November 1, 2004
.....Cherry, a senior from Missoula, MT, scored her
fourth goal of the season on Sunday in a 3-0 win
over Carroll College...Cherry captained the
Yellowjackets to a 12-4-3 mark this season, the best
record in school history...MSU Billings was also
unbeaten at home, going 9-0-1.

Chelsea Lynnes; Women's Cross-Country, October
25, 2004
.....Robertson, Lord and Lynnes finished 2nd, 3rd
and 5th respectively at the Pacific West Conference
Cross-Country Championships held in Billings...the
trio's dominating performance led the Lady
Yellowjacket team to a second place finish, just 12
points behind race favorite BYU-Hawaii...each runner
set a personal best for the season at 5,000 meters,
with Robertson finishing in 19:00, Lord in 19:04 and
Lynnes in 19:19...all three earned All-Pacific West
Conference honors.
Brian Palmer, Men's Soccer, October 18, 2004
.....Palmer, a senior from Laramie, Wyoming, made
his last home game a memorable one with two goals in
a 2-0 Senior Day win against University of Mary...he
teamed with fellow senior Thomas Pertuit for the
first goal of the game and capped the scoring with
an unassisted goal in the second half...Palmer is
having the best season of his career with six goals
and 14 points.
Margot Merrill-Johnson, Women's Soccer, October
11, 2004
.....Merrill-Johnson, a senior from Salt Lake City,
scored two goals and had three assists to lead the
Lady Jackets to a pair of wins over the
weekend...the two victories kept MSUB unbeaten at
home and gave the team the school record for wins in
a season with 10...Merrill-Johnson leads the team
with eight goals and 21 points.
Thomas Pertuit, Men's Soccer, October 4, 2004
.....Pertuit, a senior from Billings, scored three
goals in two games over the weekend...he scored
twice on Sunday to lead the Yellowjackets to a 3-0
win over Westminster College...Pertuit has scored a
team-best 11 goals in 13 games this season.
Olivia Munro, Volleyball, September 27, 2004
.....Munro broke the school record for career kills
on Tuesday, knocking down 13 in a win at Rocky
Mountain...Munro now has 1,045 career kills, two
more than Brandee Sayles had in her career from
1994-1997...the senior from Toronto still has 15
matches remaining to add to her total.

September 20, 2004
.....For the first time, the Yellowjacket of the
Week award goes to an entire team...the Lady Jacket
soccer team matched its win total of a year ago and
extended its school-record unbeaten streak to seven
games with a 7-2 drubbing of Rocky Mountain College
and a 5-1 defeat of West Region foe Central
Washington...seven different players scored against
Rocky, and five different players scored against
Central Washington...the team is now 6-0-1 and averaging
3.23 goals per game.
Natalie Bills, Volleyball, September 13, 2004
.....Bills, a sophomore setter from Provo, UT,
guided the Yellowjackets to three sweeps over the
weekend...she has helped the Jackets to one of their
best starts at 6-1...Bills ranked eighth in the NCAA
II for assists per game in the first statistical
rankings of the season.
Jessica Bratton, Volleyball, September 7, 2004
.....Bratton, a sophomore outside hitter from
Casper, WY, was named the Most Outstanding Player at
the Aspen Hotels Invitational in Anchorage...she
averaged 4.79 kills per game to lead the
Yellowjackets to the tournament title...Bratton also
earned PacWest Player of the Week honors.
Alyssa Wolfer, Women's Soccer, August 30, 2004
.....Wolfer, a sophomore forward from Longmont,
Colo., scored two goals in the Yellowjackets' 4-0
victory over St. Cloud State on Sunday...the goals
were the first of her collegiate career after
spending her freshman season as a backup
goalkeeper...in the weekend's two wins, Wolfer had
five shots, four of which were on goal.
